Lindsey Stirling is such a vibrant musician. When I found this video, “Beyond the Veil”, I knew I had to share it with my readers. I have always been a lover of fantasy and fairy tales. Ms. Stirling puts all of that into motion with this whimsical video. Isn’t it wonderful how she plays the violin with her whole body….her whole being? I believe this portrays her inner child and her adult self merging as one. What do you think?
I love this piece, Cavatina, played by classical guitarist, Tavi Jinariu. It became famous after the film “The Deer Hunter” premiered years ago with this as the theme song. It is beautifully played and I hope you’ll enjoy it! Sunday’s are about sharing, connecting and enjoying life. Wherever you may be I wish you peace and joy on this beautiful day of rest!
I grew up in a musical family. My mother, an accomplished operatic soprano, performed all over this country, Europe and the Far East when I was growing up. My world was filled with the music of various operas and classical music, which I also enjoyed playing on the piano. My path took me on a culinary route and then a literary one but classical music has always been very important to me. I have chosen this beautiful duet, The Fleur Duet, from Leo Delibes three act opera, first performed in Paris in 1883. This particular performance will showcase the beautiful voices of Anna Netrebko and Elina Garanca.
We watched the movie “Message In A Bottle” one night last week. It reminded me of how we all change with time as I saw a younger Robin Wright play the role of Theresa. Seeing her now in one of our favorite series, “House of Cards”, you’d barely recognize her! I love the story of her character finding the wine bottle in which a message, so poignantly written by the Kevin Costner’s character, leads her on a journey to find him. In typical Nicholas Sparks fashion the movie has a bittersweet ending….why does he always do that? The soundtrack is so beautiful in this movie. I’m sharing the piece “Forever (And Always)” by Gabriel Yared with you today. And if you get the chance and want to view the movie get out your box of tissues, settle back and enjoy!
I love the music of Loreena McKennitt. I can trace my family back to a Scotts/Irish heritage, although I really don’t know who arrived in the United States to being our family tree here. I’ll look into that when I have some spare time….laughing about that! My life is full to overflowing with goodness at this time. The first in the “Emmeline” children’s book series is about to be released by my publisher with the most amazing illustrations by local artist, Ed Hose. Press kits are being put together, book signing’s scheduled and lots of buzz going on about the whole thing. My dream of being a published author is finally coming true! I finished the second in the series this past week and off it went to my editor! This is more fun than I could ever have imagined!
So, without further ado, I’m sharing this beautiful video on this quiet Sunday morning. The lyrics to this song were first written by W.B. Yeats in 1893. Haunting and beautiful! I think you’ll enjoy the music!
“Silence Speaks” by Secret Garden is such a beautiful video. Soothing, peaceful…perfect for a quiet Sunday morning. Family is coming in from Austin, Texas later today as well as Vermont. I haven’t seen my cousin in years so I’m really excited to welcome him into our home here on the island and introduce him to my husband! I’ll be preparing a low country boil later, chilling the wine and beer, preparing for their arrival. I love Sundays and this one is very special. I wish you all a magical day filled with happiness and contentment. Take a moment to be silent…..enjoy!
I love this video of Kevin Kern’s, “Fields of Gold”. One could think of the marshes as fields of gold at certain times of year. I cherish my surroundings and my life here on St. Simons! The friends I have made are so precious to me, each bringing a special talent or passion with them. We all expand our minds and grow as individuals as a result of our friendship. Enjoy this wonderful day! I’m planning to hear the beautiful classical guitar concert at Christ Church later this afternoon. Life is so very good…..live every minute!
What better way to begin a peaceful Sunday than with this wonderful video of Sarah Chang performing “Meditation de Thais” by Massanet. This lovely piece always sends chills up my spine and peace to my soul. Please enjoy and don’t forget to take time for yourself today! Do something wonderful just for you!
A new year has come….a clean slate….a new beginning. How exciting! I have so much hope for 2015. I look forward to sharing more history of our area with you as well as more on the arts and humanities, interesting people, places and things! I found this lovely video on-line and thought it would be a great way to begin with the first Simple Sundays post of this new year. Pour your coffee and relax as you listen. Take a moment to be quiet and visualize what you want to accomplish, experience and be. Wishing you all the happiest of times in the days and months ahead!
Enjoy the lovely piano of Kevin Kern. Pearls of Joy is such a beautiful composition! I think it fits the mood after a very busy Christmas week from which we are all recovering. Take some time today to rest, renew, breathe deeply and enjoy thinking about all of the fun you’ve had and all there is to look forward to with New Year’s Eve on its way. We have a new year beginning! A new start….a clean slate….imagine the possibilities!
