Simple Sundays

I’m sharing an hour of classic French music meant for relaxation!  I’m in Atlanta today, seeing my orthopedic doctor on Tuesday for my six week check up.  I’d rather be back on the island, lazing around on our front porch, sarong and tank top with the necessary pair of chic flip-flops.  Croissants, fresh fruit and a bit of espresso…….maybe champagne!  That is my kind of slow Sunday morning.  This is the music to accompany such a morning.  I hope you’ll enjoy and relax where ever you may be!  It’s Sunday say THANK YOU and have a blessed day!

Simply Sundays

I’m loving a little bit of light jazz this Sunday morning.  Enjoy as you sit back and sip on a steaming cup of coffee, or in my case chai!  Plan your day around what will bring you joy.  Will you choose to have time alone or share the day with family, friends or your significant other.  No matter, whatever uplifts you….do it!  Wishing you all a wonderful beginning to a new week!

Simple Sundays

I’m celebrating feeling so much better this fine Sunday morning.  My range of motion is up to 108% from 70% just after surgery.  My goal is 130%…..we’re making progress.  I’m back on a bike, the stationary kind.  I love good Bosa Nova music, so when I stumbled over this mix of well known tunes I thought it would be fun for a change!  I hope you enjoy it and that you have a blessed day with family and friends!  It’s summertime, the living is easy and it’s time to ENJOY and be thankful!

Simple Sundays

I love Ferde Grofe’s “Grand Canyon” suite.  Each movement is uplifting, dramatic and beautiful.  I’m sharing “Sunrise” the first movement in the suite with you this morning.  It is so appropriate for a lovely Summer Sunday morning.  I hope it will inspire you to give and do your very best today.  Spend time doing something that brings you joy!  Embrace this day and walk forward with renewed spirit and hope!  Happy Sunday!

Simple Sundays

I’m honoring my dad with this post today.  As each day passes I am acutely aware that time is going quickly, that my dad is aging and becoming weaker.  He still has a sense of humor and can give me a hard time when he feels like it, but that doesn’t happen very often any longer.  I won’t go into health issues or any of that.  But I will tell you that my dad has been a rock in my life.  We’ve always shared a special bond.  For years, when dad traveled the world as an executive with the United Presbyterian Church, he would sense when something wasn’t quite right with me and call to check in.  Nine times out of ten he was right, I was having some sort of problem or not feeling well.  We’d talk until everything was solved and then look forward to seeing each other when he made his journey home.  I have always been a “Daddy’s Girl”, which makes going through this aging process all the more difficult.

Dad has always loved good music.  On this Father’s Day I’m sharing one of his favorites with you.  I have played it for him on the piano on numerous occasions.  It always brings a tear to his eye and a gentle smile to his face.  Our roles have changed a bit with the passing of time.  I’m the one holding his hand now, helping him step down off a curb or get into the car.  It’s not an easy time, but it’s a time I wouldn’t miss….one that I’ll always remember.

This is a day to celebrate our fathers.  I’ll be making a special dinner and fixing dad his favorite vodka with tonic and lime….very light on the vodka, please.  And for a moment, we’ll sit and look into each other’s eyes with unspoken words.  There are somethings you just don’t have to say!

Simple Sundays

Vangelis is the composer of some of today’s most memorable movie soundtracks as well as other beautiful pieces of music.  I found this recording, “Beautiful Planet Earth” to start this Sunday with relaxation and inspiration.

I hope you’ll enjoy and have a wonderful day today!

Simple Sundays

“In Beauty May I Walk”, by Karen Drucker, a song through which we receive a special blessing.  This song is adapted from a Navajo Poem.  May all of you walk in beauty, peace, loving kindness and forgiveness today!  Be HAPPY!  Make a list what you have to be grateful for…..give to others…..expect miracles…..do your very best!  Blessings to you all!

Simple Sundays

I have always loved Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings.  I stumbled over this recording on YouTube that has the words to Max Ehrmann’s famous Desiderata set to this beautiful piece of music.  The Desiderata shares timely advice for living a full, happy life.  Written in 1927, the poem did not gain popularity until it was recorded in the 1970’s and heard by millions.  The words are timeless, the message complete.  Take a moment of silence to listen and read this beautiful work of music and prose.  Wishing you a peaceful day….today, and always.

Simple Sundays

I think one of my all time favorite movies is Forrest Gump.  The simplicity of Tom Hank’s character always touches me as he talks about life being like a box chocolates.  We never really do know what we’ll get when it comes to our lives.  Maintaining a positive attitude and saying I CAN DO THAT, with no hesitation, is so important.  The compassion of this story is timeless.  It’s about loving, accepting and sharing.  I thought it appropriate for the beginning of a new week and as a gentle way to listen as you start your day.  Have a wonderful Sunday!
